Course Assessment

You will be required to sit two paper based written exams. A pass grade is set at grades 4 / 5 and is formally a grade C). 9 is the highest grade equivalent to an A*. Each paper makes up 50% of this GCSE qualification.

  • Paper 1: 1 hour 45 minutes, 50% of GCSE, 100 marks.
  • Paper 2: 1 hour 45 minutes, 50% of GCSE, 100 marks.

We can offer you a guaranteed exam space at one of our exam centres it the UK when you choose to study this IGCSE Astronomy course with us at Upskill Online UK. Alternatively, you may choose to book your own exams.

During the course, you will be required to complete two observation activities which will include the use of a telescope. You can use your own, or you can use the National Schools Observatory’s – you will be given a login so you can complete your observations using their online platform.

Other learning activities, tests or assignments will also be required to show your knowledge and understanding of the units you have just learned. They do not count towards your overall IGCSE Astronomy qualification. They are marked by your course tutor and feedback will be provided with each completed unit.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. A good standard level of Maths is required and the ability to do observations of the sky at night.
