Course Assessment

You will be required to sit two paper based written exams. A pass grade is set at grades 4 / 5 and is formally a grade C). 9 is the highest grade equivalent to an A*. Each paper makes up 50% of this IGCSE qualification.

• Paper 1 – Written exam: 1 hour 30 minutes – 50% of IGCSE – 60 marks.
  • Germany: development of dictatorship, 1918–45
  • A world divided: superpower relations, 1943–72

• Paper 2 – Written exam: 1 hour 30 minutes – 50% of IGCSE – 60 marks.
  • The origins and course of the First World War, 1905–18
  • Changes in medicine, c1848–c1948

During the course, you will be required to complete learning activities, tests or assignments to show your knowledge and understanding of the units you have learnt. They do not count towards your overall IGCSE History qualification. They are marked by your course tutor and feedback will be provided with each completed unit.
