Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) programmes and qualifications set the global standard for international education. They are created by subject experts, rooted in academic rigour and reflect the latest educational research.

CAIE are the worlds leading educational awarding organisation specialising in GCSE, A Levels and Vocational courses and upskilling learners around the world. They are part of the Cambridge University Press and Assessment.

Course Assessment

You will be required to sit two paper based written exams. A pass grade is set at grades 4 / 5 and is formally a grade C). 9 is the highest grade equivalent to an A*. Each paper makes up 50% of this IGCSE qualification.

• Paper 1 – Reading: 2 hours, 80 marks – 50% of IGCSE.
• Paper 2 – Writing: 2 hours, 80 marks – 50% of IGCSE.

During the course, you will be required to complete learning activities, tests or assignments to show your knowledge and understanding of the units you have just learnt. They do not count towards your overall English Language qualification. They are marked by your course tutor and feedback will be provided with each completed unit. There is no coursework to produce.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. A good standard level of reading and written English is required due to reading and analysing texts from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
